Breast Cancer Awareness Month | Blogtober #6

October brings round the time of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Something that I have always been aware of due to close family friends sadly being affected but it has recently become much more poignant in our own family and something which I personally now think about regularly. This is both a good and a bad thing, it is good that we are consciously more aware of breast cancer and looking for the signs as early as possible, but it is awful that it sometimes takes someone who is suffering to remind us of being more proactive in self checking and talking about it.

It appears that more and more people are being affected by cancer who we know, some are able to fight it and some are sadly taken away from us.

When we donate to charity it sometimes feels like we will never what our money go towards, will it benefit anyone? It is hard to know when we are not giving it directly to somebody in need. A couple of pounds is nothing for the majority of us, but those pounds go towards key research which is absolutely crucial. We wouldn’t have advanced to the point we are at today without your kind and generous donations to cancer research.

You may not feel like you can donate money on a monthly basis for many reasons and this is absolutely fine. However lost of brands now work together with Breast Cancer Research and bring out a selection of gifts or everyday products to which they generously give a portion of the money to charity. This is great as you can stock up on many basics which you normally would buy knowing that you are making a contribution to a good cause too.

There are so many out there from deli wraps and shampoo to more luxury items, which could be great gifts. I have put together a little guide below, to show you some of the beautiful things available this year.

Every penny and every conversation counts to building awareness and raising money to find a cure and treat people in the best way possible.

If there is one important thing you take from this post, please get to know your body and check yourself regularly. You too boys, breast cancer doesn’t just affect ladies!
