My Little Fashion Box | September

The end of the month brought another surprise arrival from My LIttle Box, if you read my earlier post you will know that I received the August box at the same time, this only doubled my excitement. This time it was all about celebrating the fashionistas within us, a whole host of goodies to help keep us looking on point and on trend for sure.
The beauty bits were great, I always find that for me they get these just right for the time of year.
Spray A Porter | from Kerastase, a buildable texturising spray with added UV and heat protection. A brand I already love for their conditioners and hairspray so am looking forward to see how this will work for my fine hair. A little added texture and volume is always good for my fairy locks.
Red Dingue Liquid Lip Creme | from the My Little Beauty range. The perfect colour as we head into autumn. This dries to a matte finish, so isn’t overly moisturising however it was comfortable to wear and lasted a couple of hours on the lips.
Finally a Hydrating BB Cream | from La Roche Posay. I don’t tend to wear foundation on a daily basis, I either go bare faced or with a tinted moisturised such as a BB or CC cream. So this was a great find, perfect for adding a little colour whist not drying out the skin as we gradually lose our summer tans. With added elements of spring water and mineral pigments this hopefully will live up the other fabulous skincare products in their range. There are several shades to suit your skin tone so this is something to bear in mind.
So then it was onto the lifestyle items, from reading other people’s reviews these can either be a hot or miss depending on personal tastes. However on the whole I have loved most of the boxes. The gifts this time sat perfectly with the ‘fashion’ theme.
A X American Vintage Scarf | from my little box. Scarves are one of my favourite accessories, so this little lightweight number will be perfect to transition me over to the winter. Also the navy blue and white print is a timeless colour combination, very clever choice MLB.
Adhesive Nail Decals |  from ALFA – K. Growing up painting my nails was my favourite thing to do, I had hundreds of colours and accessories. They were changed weekly for sure. So to receive these little stylish decals was a great throw back. I love the geometric shapes and colours. I will definitely be giving these a try, if my niece doesn’t snaffle them before me.
The final goody in the box was a cute miniature Cointreau, for those of you that don’t know it is an orange liquor. With an allergy to orange I definitely won’t be drinking this however I am Sure that Mr Bow will be whipping himself up a cocktail from one of the recipes included. There is nothing quite like a scrumptious cocktail when the weekend arrives.
Overall a really good box, we will definitely be making use of everything included.
What would be in your perfect lifestyle box?

2015 | September Highlights

September came, September went. Wow, that was the end of that. Such a whirlwind of a month I’m not too sure what happened there, but I sit writing this in the early days of October. It will be Christmas before we know it. So as we are now in my BIRTHDAY month here are a few snippets from September.
Travel //  Unusually for us we didn’t do much on the travel side over the past few weeks, not even for days trips. **makes note to change that**. On saying that I did take a trip to Manchester with Mr Bow, he went to football so I got to sneak in a few hours of shopping; autumnal purchases were had.
The other little exciting moment of the month wasn’t too far from home but each Friday night saw the skies above The Blackpool Tower and the seaside lit up with amazing fireworks for the Fireworks championships. I LOVE fireworks, bonfire night is my night of the year in the UK so to have it each week practically on your doorstep from four different countries was incredible. Something I and many other people look forward to each year.
Events //  With being so busy, I didn’t go crazy haha but I did manage to squeeze in two little events. I popped over to the Pro Beauty Exhibition held at Manchester Central. This is a trade event for people in the industry. A great weekend to see new trends, meet new contacts, catch up with other professionals or sneak in a quick treatment. It was great this year and thankyou to the press team who thoroughly looked after me in the press bubble this year.
I also went to a craft event hosted my Joe’s Bloggers and made some exciting crafty gems, look out for more on that soon if you are a budding DIY fan.
Blog //  Although you may have seen me flitting around on Instagram it was a fairly quiet month over on  my social media and blog in September. If you are a regular reader of locked in a bow you will have noticed a lull in posts, it was a month of catching up and subscription box reviews on the whole. However there was one REALLY IMPORTANT post on the #Target100000 campaign. Which aims to raise awareness again around the issue of cervical cancer and women’s health. Definitely one to pop over to and share with your female friends. It could save your life and there’s!

Work //  Work oh work, for the day job it was back to my regular routine with a bang after summer, social media madness all over the place. I also went back to uni to undertake a few extra modules including wedding and event design, so although it has been crazy I have loved learning new and challenging things in the industry.
Out of work and uni, my business Millefiori & Modello has slowly been coming along. We have designed the first draft for our bespoke gifts tags, which hopefully will be ready for your Christmas gift wrapping sessions. Aswell as many floral creations being sent out for some very lucky people.

Overall an insanely busy few weeks, but this is good right? Three cheers that we are now in my birthday month I wonder what will come of this years celebrations.

Until the next edit, have a great time all.

Target 100,000 Campaign | Attention Ladies!

So I guess you are wondering what this Target 100,000 campaign is about right?
Before I begin let me just tell you, you will not be alone in this matter. Time for some honesty, I sit here as a 26 year old who ignored several of my first letters I was sent requesting me to attend a smear test just before I turned twenty five. Why? The fear of the test or pain that may occur, the embarrassment, not be able to make a convenient appointment around work. Yes these are some of the reasons I was hesitant along with over five million other people in the UK who are not up to date with their checks. Plus a whole million have haven’t even had one yet.
See I told you, we are all this bubble together!
So Target 100,000 let me explain a little further. This campaign has been set up to reach out to those people, and you and me. To raise awareness and re-engage with the importance of regular cervical cancer screening. From their research, it was found that if ladies were given the opportunity to conduct a self screen in their own homes 10% would go ahead with this.
So to aid ten percent of the one million of you out there. This campaign will help reinforce awareness and change attitudes around smear checks via the alternative of self screening by GynaeHealth UK. This could help 100,000 more ladies be screened this year.
GynaeCheck launched in the Uk this month, it is a self screener test which you can carry out in the privacy of your own home and only takes a few minutes to complete. I will be explaining more about the process of the test in my next post. However after completion, you then post your kit and in return you will be notified of your results. An alternative way to help arm yourself against what could potential be fatal.
GynaCheck checks for strains of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), of which 99.7% lead to cervical cancer. This can be identifiesd and treated if you undertake regular tests either with the method or via your local NHS. There is a charge for using the GynaeCheck service, however for the month of September this is currently at a reduced rate of £99. If you want to minimise the uncomfortableness you may feel during this process this could be the route for you.
It’s so important ladies!
Please help to share this campaign with all of your female friends, aswell as those guys! They can also share the importance and encourage us ladies to go and get checked.
Please help to spread the word online with the hashtags #gynaecheck and #target100000.
Lets go and get checked ladies…….

My Little Gypset Box | August

My parcel from My Little Box was delayed over August, it came around the same time as this months box however it was still a delight. I knew exactly what I was getting having seen everyone else’s online but it felt just the same dipping into a little box of goodies that were all mine.
Unfortunately you can’t now buy this box however If you like some of the products included it will be easy to snap them up as most are available online.
So what did we get? The My Little Gypset Box was bursting with goodies for all you travel seekers. Helping to keep you looking tiptop and good to go whilst on your travels or enjoying the many upcoming festivals.

The lifestyle items were quite cute this time, with a boho style canvas bucket bag made in collaboration with Antik Batik. It has a long shoulder handle and is the perfect size to wear as a cross over bag to keep your hands free but still looking stylish on the go. I have been using this to carry my DSLR camera the past few weeks; definitely a better look than a big chunky black one.
I also received a set of hair ties, these are the softest bobbles I have ever had. They scoop up my fine hair no problem and don’t pull throughout the day like normal ones. Plus how cute are they to have on your wrist just incase you need one, which I always do.

For the beauty buys this time, there was a Body Milk for Korres, this has quite a strong fragrance how feels really moisturising to the skin. I haven’t used their products before so am looking for to trying this out more over the next few weeks, I will let you know if it’s a gudden’. Also a natural toned and fairly warm bronzer from the My Little Beauty collection, I am little pale for this at the moment after such a dismal summer in the UK. However for contouring this would be great, I think I will be pulling this back out towards the end of the year for party season.
Finally was a Colour Hybrid Lip and Cheek tint from So Susan, again a brand I have heard a lot about but have yet to try. This is really pigmented and glossy so is perfect for a quick swipe of colour to perk up your face throughout the day. A piece that will definitely be going in my handbag.

So quite a few surprises that are new to me, I can’t wait to carry on using them over the next few weeks; plus some useful bits too.You can never go wrong with bags and hair ties, right girls? Overall it was a good little box. Now it’s straight over to Septembers, so I will be back very soon.

Hope you all had a wonderful summer, did you get up anything exciting?

The finishing touch with The Bling Minx

I recently discovered The Bling Minx through a work colleague, a fairly new company who sell statement and costume jewellery at super affordable prices. Most of their sales are completed through Twitter and Instagram and are posted out if you are not local to Lancashire. However they now also do jewellery parties, the perfect chance to try on 152 necklaces with your girls and pick out your faves. Perfect!
I was kindly sent a gorgeous piece to try out. It arrived beautifully presented in a little pink organza bag. A layered fine necklace, my favourite kind! This piece is really cute and goes with so many outfits, perfect to finish of any look whether it be casual or glam. It is lightweight making it comfortable to wear. I love the detailing on each layer, something a little different from a plain chain.
There is a full range of jewellery on their fed, from delicate and pretty to bold, bright, statement pieces that will wow your socks off. They now even stock earrings and bracelets, are you feeling ready to shop yet?

Pop over and check them out, would you go simple or statement?
